The Item

This vintage parlor lamp base represents a premier example of mid-century Victorian Revival lighting, a style that captivated American home design during the 1960s and 1970s. Drawing inspiration from classic nineteenth-century 'Gone with the Wind' kerosene parlor lamps, this factory-electrified version captures the romanticism of the past while meeting modern domestic electrical standards. The base is constructed from weighted die-cast white metal with a rich, antique brass-toned finish, showcasing intricate openwork scrolls, foliage motifs, and traditional acanthus-leaf feet that provide a highly stable and ornate foundation. The central body of the lamp is composed of premium, hand-blown opaque milk glass with a soft, satin finish. It features a bulbous, urn-shaped silhouette highlighted by two horizontal hand-applied pink lustre stripes near the bottom edge, adding a delicate touch of color that contrasts beautifully with the milk glass and metallic elements. Rising from the fount is a pierced metal burner collar designed to emulate historical oil burners, equipped with an integrated key-turn switch, a shade ring for supporting a glass globe, and a clear glass chimney that rises through the center to disperse a warm, soft glow. Perfect as a restoration piece or styled as a standalone chimney table lamp, this fixture brings an authentic cottagecore or grandmillennial charm to any nightstand, side table, or parlor display. The electrical components are fully functional and ready for daily use, although the outer decorative glass shade is not included. This piece measures approximately 17.5 inches in height, 6 inches in width, and weighs 5 pounds.
