This vintage stoneware goblet was produced in Japan for the Otagiri Mercantile Company, capturing the organic stoneware aesthetic that became defining in late twentieth-century tablecraft. The footed vessel features an off-white glazed upper bowl decorated with hand-painted seagulls gliding over stylized blue ocean waves. Beneath the seascape scene, the waist and flared foot are finished in a rich, multi-toned brown glaze with subtle rust accents and glossy drip variations, highlighting the textured throwing lines along the pedestal base.

Otagiri pieces were designed in California and handcrafted by artisan potteries across Japan, who utilized durable stoneware clays and high-fire reduction glazes. The combination of matte cream clay body and lustrous iron-rich glaze reflects traditional Japanese ceramic methods adapted for Western market tastes in the 1970s and 1980s. Preserved in very good vintage condition without chips or cracks, the goblet retains its original gold foil maker's sticker attached inside the hollow pedestal foot.

This piece measures approximately 5 inches in height, 3.5 inches in width, 3.5 inches in depth, and weighs 0.8 pounds.
