Founded in Colorado Springs in 1901 by Artus and Anne Van Briggle, Van Briggle Pottery became one of America's most celebrated art pottery manufactories. Artus Van Briggle, formerly a head decorator at Rookwood Pottery, spent years developing signature matte glazes that highlighted sculptural forms rather than high-gloss reflections. Among their most iconic finishes is the Mulberry glaze, characterized by a deep wine-plum base hue subtly accented with blue-tinted overspray that settles into interior rims and carved highlights.

This mid-century ewer pitcher features a flared, high-arched handle that flows into a slender neck and a gracefully pinched pouring spout. The tactile, satin-matte surface displays soft tonal variations where the blue overspray cascades down into the spout interior, contrasting beautifully with the rich burgundy exterior. The base retains the traditional incised conjoined double AA logo, company location, and finisher marks, reflecting decades of hand-crafted ceramic production in Colorado.
