This antique Chinese ginger jar features a beautiful blue and white design, with a lid adorned with a Foo Dog. In Chinese folklore, Foo Dogs, or "Shishi", were believed to have the power to ward off evil spirits and protect against misfortune. Made from porcelain and pottery, this 8" x 7.5" ginger jar is believed to date back to pre-1890 based on its lack of markings, making it a true antique. The unglazed areas demonstrate some rust and roughness, and the glaze exhibits several imperfections, adding to the piece"s unique nature.
