The Item

This striking pair of vintage oak leaf bookends represents the fine craftsmanship of the Philadelphia Manufacturing Company, an American foundry celebrated in the mid-to-late twentieth century for producing exceptional decorative metalwares. Designed in a highly stylized, organic silhouette, each bookend captures the sweeping lobes and central midrib of an oak leaf. Hand-cast from substantial base metal, the pieces are plated in rich brass and copper tones, then lacquered to preserve their luster while developing a beautifully warm, deeply aged bronze patina over time.

What elevates this set is the remarkable attention to detail on the reverse side. The back of each bookend features miniature embossed falling leaves cascading down the textured surface—a signature decorative hallmark of PMC's nature-inspired designs. One of the bases still retains the original gold foil manufacturer's label certifying its authentic Philadelphia origin. These heavy-duty bookends are as functional as they are sculptural, making them the perfect addition to a library desk, fireplace mantel, or rustic cabin bookshelf.

This handsome pair of bookends measures approximately 6.5 inches in height, 5.5 inches in width, and 3.25 inches in depth, with a combined physical weight of approximately 5 pounds.
